Kate Middleton is continuing her good deeds into 2013 by donating a hamper of baby clothes to a UK charity.

The pregnant Duchess of Cambridge sent a big hamper of baby producers to East Anglia Children's Hospices (EACH), of which she is a Royal Patron. The hamper is up for sale in a special auction to raise money to help with the hospice's daily running costs. And it seems to be doing the trick as bids for the baby goodies had reached £305 as of yesterday (January 7).

Laura Shearing, Norfolk Fundraiser for EACH told Marie Claire how important the Duchess' donation was: "The vital funds that Russell (Baker, the man behind the auction) continues to raise really will go a long way in supporting local life-threatened children and their families."

The news of Kate's kind deed comes as Graham Butland, chief executive of The Treehouse in Ipswich, which is run by EACH, has revealed how important the support of the Duchess has been. He said: 'It's been tremendous, not only for EACH but also for palliative care nationally and internationally. Her support has brought a whole new perspective to what we do."

"It's difficult to know why people will give money," Mr Butland told Sky News. "All I can say is our fundraising has held up very well at a time when most charities are seeing a dip in their income."

Well done Kate! In between her charity work Kate, who is said to be still suffering from acute morning sickness, is planning a low key celebration for her 31st birthday tomorrow. The Duchess will celebrate privately and quietly, St James' Palace has confirmed.

The future queen, who is believed to be around 12 weeks pregnant with her and Prince William's first child, will reportedly mark the occasion in low key fashion and according to the Evening Standard will probably spend the day with her husband at their North Wales home on Anglesey.

It was a more public affair last year when the Duchess made a public appearance at the royal premiere of Stephen Spielberg's 'War Horse' just days ahead of her milestone 30th birthday.
