They have been happily married for seven years and have two beautiful little girls - but Nicole Kidman has revealed that husband Keith Urban wasn't initially that keen on her.

The Australian actress met the New Zealand-born country music star in January 2005 at a G'Day LA, a day that honours Australians in Hollywood, but she said he didn't seem that interested.

Speaking to Ellen Degeneres on her chat show, the 45-year-old said: "We have different perspectives on it. I'm like, 'You didn't love me at first sight. You didn't notice me!' And he's like, 'Yes, I did, but I just didn't let on.'

"But we kind of met and then about four months later he called me. That's a long time! He said he had other things he had to take care of. Guys, right?"

Seven years later and Nicole is still as crazy about her husband, who she says brings lots of music to their life.

She gushed: "The great thing about being married to a musician... is you have music in the house all the time. There is something very joyful about having music. Because Keith can play pretty much any instrument, he'll just play piano at 7am in the morning. Breakfast around the piano is very much a part of our life."

The couple were married in June 2006 and in 2008, their first daughter Sunday Rose was born, followed by Faith Margaret in 2010 who was born to the couple via a surrogate.

Nicole also spoke to Ellen about her daughters and laughed at her mother who she said cannot understand Sunday's Australian-Southern accent.

She said: "They were both born in Nashville, and we live in Tennessee now. They have a mix of Australian and Southern accents which is really cute, but my mama always says, 'I can't understand her', because... she says, 'Hey, y'all!' to her grandparents."
