They're all teens, with BRIT nominees under their belt but that's where the Jake Bugg and One Direction similarities stop, as the singer/songwriter has launched a foul-mouthed rant against Harry Styles and co.
Bugg picked up a BRITs nomination for Best British Breakthrough Act this year but the up and coming musician is obviously not a fan of BRIT winners 1D.
In a new interview Jake launches into a long rant about the worldwide superstars, starting with the frequent comparisons between the group and The Beatles:
"People [call them the new Beatles] because they broke America, but that don't mean a thing. I mean, [One Direction] must know that they're terrible," Jake tells Shortlist magazine.
"They must know ... calling them the new rock stars is a ridiculous statement. And people should stop making it."
Jake Bugg is rumoured to be dating Harry Style's ex Cara Delevingne (Spiller/WENN)
The singer didn't stop there either, going on to criticise the boyband for not penning their own tunes: "Who the f**k is saying [they're the closest thing to rock stars we have these days]? Oh, I'm pretty sure they have a good laugh. But it's easy to, isn't it? When you don't have to write any songs.”
Though he may not like to admit it, Jake does have a connection with one of the One Direction boys as both have been linked to model of the moment Cara Delevingne. Harry Styles and the Brit model were linked last year before rumours of Jake's relationship with Cara is rumoured to have started earlier this month.
Cara, 20, and Jake, 18, made their first public appearance together at an event for luxury fashion brand Burberry at the beginning of February before heading to London’s Groucho Club together to celebrate her ex Styles’ 19th birthday. Jake can't hate Harry that much then!
A source told The Sun at the time: “Cara and Jake are an item. They first met a couple of months ago at a party she was at with her best pal Rita Ora. They hit it off straight away.”
Whilst Jake seems to be enjoying his time on the London party scene, the newcomer has revealed his one true calling in life. After his debut album hit the top spot last October, preventing Leona Lewis from scoring a hat trick of number ones, Jake told NME: "I guess it proves my point – people still want to hear guitar music. It's my job to keep that X Factor sh*t off the top of the charts."
