She’s faced weeks of criticism for not skating on her own. Tonight, Samia finally upped her game but it was a case of too little too late as she was voted out of the competition.
Tonight was prop week on Dancing on Ice and there was extra pressure on the celebrities to pull off a good performance without dropping their props.
However for Samia, she was also determined to show the judges that she was capable of skating on her own as she had been previously criticised for relying too heavily on dance partner Sylvain.
But unfortunately, her efforts had come too late as she was voted out of the competition after being in the bottom two, alongside Luke, following the phone votes.
Earlier in the show, the actress delivered a great performance, inspired by her role as hairdresser Maria Sutherland in Coronation Street.
Her prop- a chair on wheels was used to great effect and she incorporated it into her routine well.
The star also seemed to grow in confidence and this was seen as she skated some of the routine without Sylvain holding her hand.
The judges obviously appreciated this and scored her 28 points, which although good, still landed her at the bottom of the leader board.
Jason commented that it was interesting to see her up her game with the performance and skating when she wasn’t using her prop. He added that she was more in control and “moving in the right direction”, however her did point out that Samia could’ve done with thrashing her hair more!
Before the skate-off, host Phillip Schofield announced that Samia had injured her groin and there were fears that she wouldn’t be able to perform had she been in the skate-off.
When it emerged that she had indeed been voted to do the skate-off, Samia appeared well enough to perform although with some discomfort- a factor which may have affected her final performance.
After both she and Luke danced, the judges unanimously decided to keep Luke in the competition and this unfortunately meant Samia was out.
She commented that before she knew she was voted out, she didn’t mind leaving this week as she would be leaving on a high.
On a positive note, at least Samia would be leaving the show with more than just newly acquired skating skills, as it is rumoured that her and partner Sylvain have become more than just friends! Every cloud Samia!
So that’s it, your semi-finalists have now been revealed: Luke, Matt, Beth and Gareth. But who do you think will be crowned champion?
