Jay-Z and Kanye West have been crowned two of the most powerful men in hip-hop in a list compiled by Complex magazine.

The rappers, who collaborated on the 2011 album Watch The Throne, join the likes of P. Diddy and YMCMB head honcho Birdman who tops the list of entrepreneurs. Jay-Z comes in high on the list at number two while Kanye comes in at number five.

Want to know who came first? Cash Money label bosses Bryan Williams, better known as Birdman and Ronald 'Slim' Williams top the list thanks to their Young Money/Cash Money label which houses successful acts such as Drake, Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj.

The third most powerful person in rap has been named as Def Jam president Joie Manda, with Jimmy Iovine and the Beats by Dre exec Dr. Dre coming in at number four.

Complex Mag writes: "Between concerts, major labels, independent artists and terrestrial radio, streaming services, artist management and legal, the entertainment business has become a constantly shifting matrix of power.”

"But power, in rap, is different."
