Kate Middleton may be a trend setter in her own right but it's been discovered that the Duchess of Cambridge may have her very own royal style icon who she steals tips from- Princess Mary of Denmark.

Kate stepped out on Wednesday for an official engagement with the Queen in a coat previously worn by Princess Mary when she was pregnant six years ago. The Duchess of Cambridge donned the blue Malene Birger coat this week for a visit to London's Baker Street tube station to celebrate the Underground's 150th anniversary.

Royal watchers soon noticed the stunning teal coat from the Danish designer was familiar and it was discovered that the garment was also worn by Princess Mary when she was rocking her own baby bump back in November 2006.

Flying the flag for her adoptive country's designers, Australian-born Princess Mary wore the coat on 20 November 2006 for an official visit to The Red Barnet Foundation when she was pregnant with her daughter Princess Isabella.

Designer Malene has described her popular creation as "a beautiful wool coat with beautiful bead work, back martingale closed by invisible hooks, cotton lining with beautiful polka dot black border, pen pocket inside, two outside pockets closed with large buttons," according to Hello.

We wonder if Kate will be looking to the beautiful Mary for any further style inspiration!
