Meat Loaf has confirmed that his current 'Last At Bat' tour will be his last after battling with multiple health issues for several years.

The 65-year-old will kick off his UK tour on Friday at Newcastle's Metro Radio Arena and will see him perform tracks from his 1977 album 'Bat Out Of Hell' which has sold 45 million copies to date and features the hit tracks 'You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth,' 'Dead Ringer For Love' and 'I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That).'

While his fans are no doubt excited at seeing him on his upcoming jaunt, Meat Loaf may have caused disappointment after announcing that it will be his last tour as he no longer wants to travel in a bid to preserve his ailing health.

“This is really it ... I just don't want to travel anymore,” Meat Loaf told Reuters TV ahead of the shows. While he said his health was “fine,” he did admit that he feels he would no longer be able to deliver a show the fans want without being blasted by critics.

“When your name is on the marquee, you either get the glory or you get the hits,” Meat Loaf explained.

“Over the years, a lot of stones and a lot of arrows have been flying my way. You expect that.”

The singer, who has also appeared in several movies including 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show,' compared himself to Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, saying the rocker hasn't experienced the same amount of health issues.

“I outweigh (Mick) Jagger by about 100 pounds (45 kgs) and that counts for something. He hasn't seen the wear and tear,” Meat Loaf said.

The star's health problems include being diagnosed with a cyst on his vocal chords in addition, knee replacement surgery and also fainting on stage in 2011 after suffering an asthma attack.

While the singer will not be heading out on an official tour, he hasn't ruled out performing one-off shows after the release of his 13th studio album 'Bat Out Of Hell II: Back Into Hell,' which he is currently recording.
