With just a matter of weeks until Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge gives birth to her first child it looks like her grandmother-in-law, the Queen has been picking up some tips for the expectant mum!

The Queen and Prince Philip visited the Rosie Maternity Hospital in Cambridge yesterday to view a new £30 million extension, and it sounds like Her Majesty was collecting some tips from new mums who turned out to greet the royal visitors.

Claire Morris, 42, explained to the Queen how she gave birth to her first child in a birthing pool at the center, with Her Majesty apparently fascinated by the water birth.

The new mum and her partner Stephen Tibbett, 44, proudly showed off their new baby as the Royal couple looked round, with Claire explaining the benefits of the warm water in the birth pool, saying “the heat is a bit relaxing and gives pain relief – and water means you’re less weighted”.

Claire later joked to the Express that perhaps HM will pass on some tips to the Duchess of Cambridge: “The Queen was interested in the birthing pool. Maybe she’s doing some research for Kate – who knows?”

Kate is expected to give birth in mind-July and whilst no official details on the birth have been announced it has been revealed that the Duchess is getting ready to scale back her public appearances.

The expectant mum looked happy and healthy as she attended the Queen’s annual garden party at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday, getting her maternity outfit just right in a Emilia Wickstead dress coat, but according to Marie Claire it’s believed her visits will become fewer and fewer in the coming weeks.

It’s been suggested that once Kate’s public appearances dwindle she will move out of London to stay at her parents, Carole and Michael's, home in Buckleburty, Berkshire for the final weeks of her pregnancy.

Kate’s last public appearance has been confirmed for June 13 - a month before her baby’s birth - where she will take part in the naming ceremony of Princess Cruises' new liner Royal Princess in Southampton – after this her diary will be free of official engagements.
