Angelina Jolie may miss the funeral of her maternal aunt Debbie Martin, who passed away last weekend following a battle with breast cancer, as she's planning to accompany fiance Brad Pitt to the London premiere of World War Z on Sunday.

Debbie, 61, was the younger sister of Angelina's mother Marcheline Bertrand, who died of Ovarian cancer in 2007. Both carried the BRCA1 gene which Jolie admitted just two weeks ago that she also had. Her husband Ron confirmed that Jolie would not be present this weekend for the funeral in San Diego.

“[We're] making the final arrangements for the funeral as we speak,” he told RadarOnline, “[we] expect it to be this Sunday at noon at El Camino Memorial in Sorrento Valley near our home.

Explaining the absence of his niece Ron explained: “Angelina will be in London on Sunday so she won’t be able to attend but she has been in touch with us and with various other members of the family, which has obviously been lovely and has meant a lot to us.

"Angelina has been in touch throughout the week and her brother Jamie has been with us, giving his support day by day.”

He added: “They both loved Debbie very much and although Angie is not able to come right now she has sent her love and support which was very nice.”

Earlier this month Angelina revealed in an article with the New York Times that she'd undergone a double mastectomy after discovering she had an 87% chance of contracting breast cancer and a 50% chance of ovarian cancer.

Speaking shortly after his wife's death at the Palomar Medical Centre in Escondido, near San Diego, Ron admitted the fact that Jolie had been able to help prevent losing her own life, had comforted Debbie in her final days.

He told the BBC: "It gave her some, it gave her a lot of gratitude that she could have, that Angelina had now saved her own life, you know, whereas... and since she couldn't go back and save herself, she was very happy to hear that."
