Taylor Swift admits she's chosen an alternative career as a police detective should her music career hit the skids.

The 23-year-old singer is obsessed with US detective shows and admits the hours she's spent watching box-sets has convinced her that a life in the force could be an option if ever the hits suddenly dry up.

“I'd be an interior designer or a detective – but I don't think I'd be a very good detective,” she told The Sun during her appearance at the Capital FM Summertime Ball on Sunday (June 9). “I just watch all of those crime shows. Anything that has a slight premise of being a crime show. I'm on it.

“I have so many box-sets – I'm into Criminal Minds at the moment, and Law and Order, and CSI. I've never seen The Wire but I'll get into that next.”

Not that she has any plans to hang up the guitar any time soon – the singer has enjoyed her best year to date having won an unprecedented eight awards for latest album Red at the Billboard Awards in Las Vegas recently.

Taylor is also working her way through a new tour with Ed Sheeran – and the pair delighted fans at yesterday's event when they performed new single Everything Has Changed less than 24-hours after their appearance on-stage at the Britain's Got Talent live final.

“I think it's hard the first couple of years,” she said of being on the road. “But once you get into the groove you kind of just get used to it. In fact you get a little restless when you're in a place for more than two days.

“You start thinking, 'When am I supposed to board a plane?' and 'When am I supposed to pack my stuff?'”
