Downton Abbey has announced three new characters as the popular drama heads into its fourth series, so EntertainmentWise dishes on everything you need to know about the new cast members.

Firstly, Tom Cullen is the sexy new male to join the cast and the Welsh actor is tipped as the new love interest for Lady Mary -  his character Lord Gillingham is sure to make the ladies swoon with his rugged handsome looks.

Set to join the show since the passing of Matthew Crawley in the last series, this is Tom's first big break as he has only had minor roles in other TV series and small budget films.

Understandably the actor was excited about the role as he said: "My friends and family are so excited. My grandma was absolutely over the moon, it’s her favourite show."

Next to be added to the cast is Paul Giamatti, who unfortunatley we won't see until the Christmas Special where he will be joing the cast for some much loved Downton drama.Joining the cast as Harold Levinson the star will play the role of the "free-spirited uncle to Mary and Edith."

Finally, Gary Carr makes history as the first the first black character to join Downton, taking on the role of jazz singer, Jack. Speaking of the show's new addition, producer Gareth Neame said that Jack's "addition will bring interesting twists to the drama" - and we bet his character will bring a new cultural and social dynamic to the cast.

So there we have it, three new male characters joining the popular series, we can't wait to see them in action alongside some of our old favouirtes.
