Katy Perry has pushed on with the promotion for her brand new single 'Roar' this weekend, despite the track being leaked online ahead of the official premiere, with the singer thanking her dedicated fans for their support.
The 'Wide Awake' songstress was due to debut the anthemic single today after spending the last week releasing several teasers in anticipation for the big reveal, however, the track suffered the dreaded premature leak over the weekend.

'Roar' marks a mature direction for Katy with the anthemic, thumping beat a noticeable departure from her previous offerings such as 'California Gurls,' 'Firework' and 'E.T.'
Lyrics include: “I got the eye of the tiger, the fire / Dancing through the fire, ’cause I am a champion / And you’re gonna hear me roar / Louder, louder than a lion.”
Addressing the leak, Katy encouraged her fans to support the single regardless, tweeting: “HEY! I know how you guys can make me feel better about the leak...Get #HAPPYBIRTHDAYDAVID trending for my lil bro's 25th today! @sirdavidD.”
Ever the trooper, the 28-year-old continued to promote the track, adding: “Looks like there's a tiger on the loose!!! Make sure you catch it @iTunesMusic at midnight EDT TONIGHT! #ROAR.
“Okay. I should sleep now as I have to get up at dawn... See you in the morning. RRRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAR. Also. Thank you. I appreciate your support, I really do,” she said.
'Roar' is the first single to be taken from Katy's upcoming album 'Prism,' which is due for release on October 22, and is her first since 2010's smash hit 'Teenage Dream.'
