Dakota Johnson has landed the coveted role of Anastasia Steele in the movie adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey alongside British star Charlie Hunnam but it seems not everyone is happy about the choice of actress - with the star's mum, legendary actress Melanie Griffith taking to Twitter to hit back at the haters.
Hollywood offspring Dakota, the daughter of Melanie and actor Don Johnson, was confirmed for the role in the big screen adaptation of E.L. James' erotic novel yesterday and her proud mum, who is now married to Antonio Banderas, took straight to Twitter to congratulate her daughter.
She wrote following the announcement: "My beautiful child Dakota has been chosen to play Anna Steele in 50 Shades!!! Look out world! Here she comes!!! #proudmama"

But it wasn't too long before she started noticing the online backlash against her daughter, over the casting in the bonkbuster. Clearly Mel, who is best known for her Golden Globe winning role in Working Girl, wasn't going to take any attacks on her daughter, telling one fan who criticised the selection: "Wow! You're quite the bitch aren't you? #dontmesswithmama"
Let's hope Dakota is a feisty as her mum!
Charlie will be playing Christian Grey - but he wasn't the first choice according to EL James' friend! (WENN)
After months of speculation the lead roles in the movie, to be directed by Sam Taylor Johnson were confirmed by author EL James on Twitter yesterday. Despite the casting, it has since been revealed Brit Charlie wasn't the first choice for billionaire seducer Christian Grey, with Twilight hunk Robert Pattinson the actor the studio wanted.
Friend of E.L. James and writer Brett Easton Ellis took to Twitter to give his verdict on the news as well as dismissing the rumours that actors including Matt Bomer and The Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder were ever in the running.
He tweeted: "Talked to E.L. James at a party over the summer: her first choice for Christian was Rob Pattinson and Matt Bomer was never in the running."

Easton Ellis then went on to post on the social networking site:
