Huey Morgan's walkout from the set of Never Mind The Buzzcocks after a clash with Rizzle Kicks has had a lot of viewers talking today, but Noel Fielding has taken to Twitter to insist the whole thing was a "storm in a teacup".

Morgan, a musician with the Fun Lovin' Criminals, has appeared on the panel show several times in the past, but ended up smashing his mug against the table and walking off-set as the episode drew to a close, after getting into a tense conversation with the rap duo, who were guest hosting.

Fielding, who is a regular fixture of the BBC Two show, addressed the furore on Twitter, explaining that the audience were on Rizzle Kicks' side.

"The mug was not broken because everything was taking too long to film," he wrote.

"And the audience where [sic] in no way behind Huey ! They were supporting the Rizzles completely.”

He went on: "It was all a storm in a tea cup…I’m sure Huey didn’t mean it ! Just got over excited. The mug is in hospital but on the road to recovery."

The star joked: "Let’s order in some plastic beakers for next time.

"The mug is getting a new handle from a dead tea cup who was a donor."

The 'Skip To The Good Bit' rappers tweeted on their joint account: "R.I.P Mug."
