Jennifer Lawrence unveiled a shock new look yesterday, cutting all her lovely locks off in favour of a pixie crop. The Hunger Games babe revealed the dramatic new stlye on her Facebook yesterday to the excitement of her fans.
The 23 year-old, who has always sported tumbling waves, has gone brunette before for her role as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games franchise and even went for shoulder length hair this award season where she swept the board for her role in Silver Linings Playbook. But this new style is definitely the most dramatic.
Jen showed off the look at the Google+ global Hunger Games fan Q&A, where she answered fan questions about new movie The Hunger Games: Catching Fire alongside co-stars Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth.
Explaining what motivated the dramatic change, Jen told Yahoo at another fan event: "I cut it earlier … then it grew to that awkward gross length."
Calling the shoulder length look "annoying," Lawrence went on to claim she had to resort to putting her hair up in a bun and wasn't a fan of the look,
"It couldn't get any uglier," she added.
Confirming Katniss would still have her brunette locks Jen went on: "This isn't how Katniss is going to look in the next movie, don't worry."
While Jen's new look might be a change for her, she's not exactly the first young star to reinvent herself with a haircut. The crop appears to be the go to look for stars in the spotlight who are looking to update their image, with the most recent one being Miley Cyrus.
The Wrecking Ball babe cut off her hair last summer, going instead for a blonde pixie crop, something which started a complete re-invention of the Hannah Montana star, giving her an edgier new look.
Could Miley have influenced the Hunger Games babe? After all she was engaged to Jen's co-star Liam Hemsworth until earlier this year.
It isn't just Miley and Jen! The stars who've gone for the crop
