Kim Kardashian may have been trying to do her bit for the victims of the devastating typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, but the star's charity auction has prompted a massive backlash after it was revealed she is only donating 10% of her proceeds.

The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star has set up an auction on eBay to raise money for the non-profit organisation International Medical Corps to help victims of the cyclone, which has killed more than 4,000 people.

Despite being worth a reported £40 million, Kim has angered fans by seemingly only donating 10% of proceeds from the sale, which includes designer items from the star's wardrobe.

The 33-year-old took to her Twitter page on Thursday to share the link to her personal website and the auction, writing:

"Hi guys, this is a very special auction because a portion of the proceeds of my eBay auction are going to International Medical Corps, a nonprofit organisation that provides critical health services on remote islands where families are struggling to access medical care and basic resources like food, clean drinking water and vital medications.

"The proceeds will go directly to the communities they're serving in the Philippines and will help typhoon survivors get access to medical care and ultimately save lives. My prayers and thoughts are with those affected by the typhoon. Check out my eBay auction here and support those who need our help in the Philippines. Xo. (sic)".

The auction has already proved immensely popular with one Stella McCartney dress already going for over $6,000, with nearly a week left until the auction closes.

With additional items from huge names like Marc Jacobs, Chanel and Prada as well as some more affordable items from her Kardashian Kollection clothing line, Kim at first glance seems to be raising thousands for the worthy cause.

However many fans have noticed that when you click through to an item page, a notification flashes up informing potential bidders that only 10% of of the final sale price will go to the International Medial Corps.

Fans have hit out on Twitter, with many labelling Kim "greedy" and "cheap" for keeping 90% of the proceeds.

Kim's items are already attracting bids into the thousands but a message on each listing states that only 10% of proceeds from the sale will be donated to charity (eBay)

"You should be giving 100% of the proceeds from the Ebay auction to the Philippines. How greedy can you get?" one fan has written whilst another adds:

"10% of the proceeds only? And the rest goes into your pockets? I would NEVER contribute to anything you do. It is never about anyone but you".

Another fan points out that Kim has drawn even more attention to her auction because of the charity she's donating to, but she's the one who's benefitting the most:

"By saying that a portion will be donated to the Philippines Typhoon Disaster, @kimkardashian people will donate more but you are taking it.."

Kim's auction comes just days after Victoria and David Beckham raised thousands for the Red Cross and their work in the Philippines with their own clothes sale, donating over 20 boxes of clothes and accessories to their local Red Cross shop in London.

The sale saw hundreds queue to get their hands on a piece of the Beckhams closet.

A rep for Kim has been contacted for a comment on this report.
