Zack Snyder is preparing to get stuck into the shoot for his Man of Steel sequel Batman vs Superman next year, and it's now been revealed that one of the most important elements of the film is almost completed - the costumes.

Ben Affleck will be stepping into the shoes of Christian Bale to take on the role of Batman while Henry Cavill reprises his role as Superman.

Costume designer Michael Wilkinson, who has worked with Snyder previously on 300, Watchmen and this summer's box office smash Man of Steel, has revealed to Cinemovie.tv that the costumes are almost complete: "We are now in the stage where we’re refining our designs with the last series of camera tests and doing our final tweaks in preparation for shooting".

While Ben and Gal Gadot, who will play Wonder Woman, will be donning all new costumes, Henry's Superman look will also receive a few tweaks, following on from Man of Steel.

Ben's friend Kevin Smith, who has worked with the star on movies like Dogma and Good Will Hunting, revealed earlier this year that he was given a sneak peak of the actor's Batman costume, teasing that fans are in for a surprise.

Kevin was chosen to host a live Man of Steel Q&A with Zack Snyder, Henry Cavill and Amy Adams for Man of Steel's DVD release and as well as chatting about the box office smash, Kevin managed to get Snyder to reveal a few details about the movie's sequel.

Speaking on the Hollywood Babble-On podcast after the event, Smith reveals that Snyder gave him a sneak peek at Affleck's Batsuit: "He pulls out his iPhone and he shows me something that, I'm not kidding, I went glassy-eyed and weak in the knees," the director gushes. "I saw the Batman costume. I saw a picture of [Affleck] in the costume. I instantly air-hugged him."

Kevin teased that Ben's Batsuit will be completely different to previous big screen incarnations like the Dark Knight trilogy's Christian Bale's look.

"You have not seen this costume on film before - for a comic book fan it was mind-bending," he explained. "Everyone always does this Matrix-y armour thing... there wasn't a single nipple on this suit. It was fantastic".

"The costume, it blew my mind. I think you'll be happy, everyone will be like, 'Holy s**t'. It's its own thing, we haven't been down this path before."
