Jared Leto Already Damaged His Oscar For Best Supporting Actor

Revealed he's left the Academy Award in his kitchen next to some vegan butter

Jared Leto, what a clumsy fella. He's only gone and damaged his Oscar just hours after winning the award for his performance in Dallas Buyers Club. The actor revealed that his Academy Award is already dented after stumbling down the stairs whilst holding it. Never mind, at least he has it well protected now, as Leto revealed that the prized statue is sitting in his kitchen guarded by some vegan butter and popcorn.

If we had just won an Oscar, we would have immediately wrapped it in bubble wrap and locked it in a bomb-proof safe. However, it doesn't look like actor Jared Leto shares our theory on trophy safety after he confessed to damaging his Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor just hours after receiving it.

The 43-year-old revealed his faux-pas whilst being interviewed by ET Canada. Leto said: “I was letting some of the people that I work with take a picture with the Oscar, and I was carrying downstairs and boom. I hit the railing on the stairs and I put a little nick in the back of it.”

Jared remained quite nonchalant about the whole thing as he added: “So you know, that's how it goes. It's already lived in, as they say.”

If you're hoping that the golden statue is now under lock and key, you might want to look away, as Leto revealed that his award is currently sitting on his kitchen counter with some buttery popcorn for company.

“The Oscar is sitting in my kitchen, guarded by some vegan butter and a bag of popcorn!” Jared admitted.

“You know, they kind of end up in the kitchen because that's the first place that I go when I get home. You put your keys down and you take off your jacket and you put your Oscar in the kitchen.”

Perhaps the 30 Seconds To Mars front man plans to kick back with a bowl of popcorn and watch Dallas Buyers Club, for which he won the award for Best Supporting Actor. Think again.

Yes, despite himself and co-star Matthew McConaughey snagging Best Actor for his role in the film, Jared has yet to watch the award winning movie.

Chatting to Ellen DeGeneres (who happened to host the 86th Academy Awards on Sunday), Jared, who portrayed the transgendered character, Rayon in the film, said that he is unlikely to watch it any time soon.

Just a day after the ceremony, Leto told Ellen: “It was such an intense role. It's better for me to just leave it alone right now.”
