The longterm girlfriend of Mick Jagger, fashion designer L'Wren Scott has been found dead at her New York apartment after apparently committing suicide, it has been confirmed.
A spokesperson for the New York Police Department confirmed the death this morning to reporters, stating: "A 49-year-old female was found this morning at 10.05am at 200 11th Avenue. She was unconscious."
"She was pronounced dead on arrival by the emergency medical services. The investigation is ongoing. We are awaiting medical examiners to determine the cause of death."
Fox News have since reported police sources as confirming to them that: “It does appear to be an apparent suicide preliminarily.”

According to the New York Daily News the 49 year-old was found in her Manhattan apartment this morning by her assistant.
Police sources have claimed Scott text her assistant at around 8:30am telling her to come to her home and when she arrived discovered the body. The Medical Examiner's Office will rule on the official cause of death.

L'Wren, born Luanna Bambrough raised by her adoptive Mormon parents Ivan and Lula Bambrough in Roy, Utah where she lived until graduating high school. In 1985 she moved to Paris to pursue a career in modelling, working with the likes of Chanel and photographers David Bailey and Jean-Paul Goude.
Moving back to the US, she established herself as a stylist during the 1990s, collaborating with the likes of Helmut Newton and Chanel chief designer Karl Lagerfeld. As well as styling photoshoots for the likes of Madonna and Julia Roberts, L'Wren also designed costumes for movies including Ocean's Thirteen and Tom Cruise film Eyes Wide Shut.

It was through this work that she met eventual partner Mick Jagger after working on Martin Scorsese's Rolling Stones documentary, Shine a Light. After nearly two decades in the fashion business, Scott debuted her first collection, 'Little Black Dress' in 2006 which featured the iconic Headmistress dress later worn by a host of stars including Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman and Sarah Jessica Parker.
Quickly establishing herself as a celebrity favourite, everyone from Michelle Obama to Sandra Bullock and Reese Witherspoon have worn her designs.
Scott began dating Rolling Stone's frontman Mick Jagger in 2001.
A rep for the band, who are currently on tour in Australia, has claimed the rocker is "completely shocked and devastated," by the news. When asked if they couple were still an item at the time of her death, they replied "of course".
There was little cause for alarm this morning as the designer's Twitter feed was updated even after her death. Someone replied as L'Wren at around 11:53am (EDT) despite the model already having died.
