Eminem has gone from Rap megastar to an overweight, spotty recluse, according to his mother Debbie Nelson.
It emerged this week that Em was rushed to hospital in Detroit over the Christmas break where he was allegedly treated for a serious heart condition and severe pneumonia.
It was also claimed that since he withdrew from the limelight, the one-time workaholic has suffered from writers’ block and instead spends his days at his Detroit home gorging on junk food, watching TV and playing computer games.
His new lifestyle is said to have caused his weight to balloon to 14½st.
In her new book, Debbie – who has had a famously rocky relationship with her famous son – says the depressed star is barely recognisable today and is riddled with health problems.
She says: “He’s let his blond hair grow out so everything but the ends are dark. His face has broken out in pimples and he’s put on so much weight that he’s causing all sorts of other health problems for himself.
“Since childhood he’s suffered bouts of pneumonia. He’s always had throat infections and he’s asthmatic. His diet can’t help. I worry about his health all the time. He’s always had high blood pressure and his cholesterol levels must be sky high. He orders fillet steak takeout from an expensive restaurant almost every evening."
The rapper's complete retreat from public life is thought to have been prompted by the death of his best pal and fellow rapper DeShaun 'Proof' Holton, who was shot dead outside a club eighteen months ago.
Eminem has sold more than 70 million albums, after bursting on to the scene in 1999 with The Slim Shady LP.
