Pippa Middleton has landed a £400,000 book deal to write about how to host the perfect party.

The sister of the Duchess of Cambridge is a bit of an expert on the matter as she works for a London-based events company Table Talk and her family also have a party business.

Her new venture is said to have kicked off a bidding war between several publishers including Harper Collins, Penguin and Random House's subsidiary Cornerstone.

It is said that Pippa finalised the deal last week with Penguin with help from literary agent David Godwin. Pippa won't be using a ghost writer for the book, but has spent hours a day working on the publication, reports The Mail On Sunday.

"Pippa says it's a nerve-racking prospect but she is looking forward to the challenge of writing her first book," a friend of Pippa said. "She had to deliver a synopsis that was sent to a number of publishers under a strict confidentiality agreement.

"There were some serious offers, but Penguin stumped up the most cash. It will be about entertaining and how to throw the perfect party. It's not just about being the perfect hostess - it will also include recipes and information about how to host different types of events."

They also added: "Pippa has been sketching out the chapters and has decided to start each one with an amusing anecdote."

Pippa has had a bit of experience writing about parties as it she used to edit her parents' company newsletter The Party Times for their Party Pieces website.

According to reports Kate thinks that the book is a "brilliant idea", but Pippa spoke to St James's Palace before signing a deal.

It was previously reported that each chapter would include an "amusing anecdote".
