ITV1's Saturday night dating show, Take Me Out has been hit by yet another scandal after one of the winner's has revealed that she used to be a prostitute.
The revelation comes as the show is trying to get over the controversy surrounding contestant Aaron Wither's criminal conviction and confession that he is a £50-an-hour escort and also in the wake of news that the show's contestants trashed a £4.5 million property after allegedly having a sex and alcohol-fuelled party.
It is thought that Wen Jing-Mo, who won a date with Aaron on Saturday night's show, told the Daily Mail that she worked as a £200-an-hour prostitute to make ends meet when she was 18.
Claiming that she didn't notify the producers of the show about her past because she wanted to find love, the 28-year-old said: "Looking back now of course I regret doing it - but at the time it was a lifeline for me."
She added: "I think a lot of other people in my position would do the same if it meant they could eat properly - I saw it as a matter of survival."
Reacting to the controversy surrounding Aaron and Wen Jing-Mo, a show spokesperson said: "During the application process we ask contestants to declare any convictions and background checks are carried out on each individual, in line with industry practice. Aaron’s criminal record did not come to light.
"We will be reviewing procedures going forward."
