Katy Perry's new album will be much different and more mature according to co writer Bonnie McKee.
With the break up of her marriage to Russell Brand, the 'Teenage Dream' singer has had a turbulent time of late and that is set to be reflected in her music.
McKee told MTV, "She's going through some major life changes, so it's not all about bubble gum and fun; it's real and it's deep and she has a lot to say. So I think people are anxious to hear it."
"It's kind of a departure from what she's been doing in the past," she continued.
When the pair combine, the writing process is a long one but McKee feels that delivers the best results.
"We are a great team when we write together because we don't let each other settle; every single line is a philosophical debate," she said.
Mckee added, "You know what? The numbers don't lie. Katy Perry is a star for the people... she's unstoppable and she's proven that."
Katy Perry officially put an end to her marriage with Russell Brand last week, when she reportedly broke down in tears.
