On the surface it looks like Tom Hardy has it all, a flourishing Hollywood career, jaw-achingly good looks and a gorgeous little boy, but the actor has revealed he's had to make some sacrifices when it comes to his work.

The star of 'The Dark Knight Rises' has admitted that his gruelling shoot schedules have left him feeling like a 'Skype father' when it comes to his young family. Hardy tells the August issue of Company magazine that he misses his four-year-old son Louis terribly when he's away:

"I like to go no longer than three weeks without seeing my loved ones, but it does take some juggling,"

'I'm very much aware of being a "Skype father," which is sad,"

Tom admits his bumper pay packets does help him feel better about the situation:

"But I have to have the finances to make sure [my son will] be secure, and I can only do that by working.'"

Little Louis lives mainly with Hardy's former girlfriend Rachael Speed whilst Tom is now engaged to actress Charlotte Riley, who he starred alongside in the 2009 TV adaptation of 'Wuthering Heights'.

Despite the distance it's clear Louis is always on Tom's mind as he gushed about his son's sporting abilities to Company:

"'He plays rugby, he's rubbish at it but he's really full of heart. He's a beautiful boy. But I would think that, wouldn't I?"

Meanwhile on his relationship with gorgeous Charlotte, the actor admits he can be a needy boyfriend as a result of his childhood:

"I was an only child so I got a lot of attention from my mum, I think that is naturally going to transfer onto any poor woman who's in my life. However, if you were my partner, you'd get a lot of attention back."

You can pay as some attention anytime Tom...
