Former American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez has praised the appointment of Mariah Carey as her replacement on the show by saying that the star has "a lot" of experience.
Speaking to E! News, the star, who announced she was departing the show to concentrate on her other projects earlier this month, appeared to react positively when she was asked what she thought of Mariah.
She said: "I think so, yeah! Why not? She’s a musician for a long time she has a lot of experience. And it’s that experience you offer them at the end of the day, the contestants just want to get better and grow through the process.”
Having appeared as a judge for two years, Jennifer also offered words of advice to Mariah, adding:
"Just enjoy the journey. There is pressure as far as the live shows, but you know what? Just remember you’re there at the end of the day to help those contestants grow and to get to the end and to get to that finale."
Revealing that Mariah will soon find out that the show is about the contestants and not the judges, Jen continued:
"And whenever I thought about that it always made my job a little less pressure-filled and a littler easier, because it’s not about you. It wasn’t about me, it was about them. It was about helping them and that always made it a lot of fun for me. I’m going to miss it a lot.”
We're going to miss Jen but we're looking forward to seeing Mariah on the panel!
