Global Gathering Festival 'Deeply Saddened' By Death

Organisers of the Global Gathering festival were left ‘deeply saddened’ by the death of a reveller over the weekend.

A 24 year-old man was found unconscious in his tent on Saturday around 4pm, at the massive dance festival held in Stratford upon Avon, he was later pronounced dead at 4.40pm by paramedics who had arrived and tried to save him.

The death is the first in the festivals 12 year history, which is known as one of the leading dance festivals in the UK.

A spokeswoman for the festival, talking to the BBC, said: "Everybody at Global Gathering is deeply saddened by this tragic loss of life.

"Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and friends at this time."

The results of a post-mortem examination are expected to be released later today.

Over 50,000 people attended the event, with the number of festival goers camping said to be above 30,000.

The festival played host to the likes of Tinie Tempah and Chase and Status (who headlined the weekend), with Friendly Fires, Nero, Skrillex, Maverick Sabre, DJ Fresh, Labrinth and Modestep also performing.
