As a Hollywood heart-throb much of Matthew McConaughey's career has been built off the back of his body, for example in recent stripper movie 'Magic Mike'.
Yet for his newest role the actor is trying something very different, a crash diet so harsh that it's making him ill, there is a reasoning behind it however.
That's because Matt's starring in a new movie 'Dallas Buyers' Club', where he plays a man who's HIV positive who attempts to smuggle the drugs that could make him well again across the Mexican border.
The 'Killer Joe' star told Us Weekly: "I'm playing a guy who was sick and would have loved to have been healthier but wasn't. For me, it's more of a mental thing than a physical thing,"
Making matters worse for the Hollywood former hunk is that wife Camila Alves is doing precisely the opposite, as she's eating for two!
The star said he was "doing a lot of cooking! There's a Brazilian dish that her mother does, so we're having it more often than we're used to. That involves a lot of chicken, a lot of cheese and things like that, which I'm not having, but she is. She loves a good steak, so I've been making a good rib-eye for her when I can".
It's pretty rare that we pity Matt, after all he's a Hollywood star with wealth, a beautiful wife and a sex symbol, but the thought of cooking up all that delicious food and then not being able to touch it makes us feel a little sympathy!
