We've all wondered just what turned a middle aged woman from Buckinghamshire into the sauciest thing to hit books since Madonna decided that it would be a great idea to publish a tome consisting largely of her naked.
OK we knew that 'Fifty Shades of Grey' had its origins in 'Twilight', but just what turned author E.L. James from your average fan of Edward and Bella into a sex sensation.
Now James has revealed just what happened during watching and reading 'Twilight' to turn her into the Queen of bondage books.
She told Katie Couric on Katie: “Well, it all started way back in the day when I saw ‘Twilight,’ the film, and I loved those books — I could not put [them] down, absolutely avidly read the books"
"This switch was flipped. I had to write — started writing, wrote a novel, then I discovered fan fiction.”
She continued: ”[I] wrote about Edward and Bella and then decided to write about Christian and Anastasia. I took the fan [fiction], and a friend of mine re-wrote it and I thought — if he could do it, so could I, and now I am here.”
So there you have it, from watching K-Stew and R-Patz to best selling author in several sado-masochistic steps.
