Katie Holmes may have married the Top Gun star – who’s poster she had on her wall when she was younger – but her first real-life love was from the Dawson’s Creek.
Last week, Jackson, 35, said he had received a call from his former Dawson’s Creek costar and former girlfriends, Holmes, 33, after she divorced Tom Cruise, 50, but now that information comes as a no-brainer.
"Like any old friend, it was like, 'Oh, hi how are ya? What's going on?'; 'I had a kid,'" the Fringe star said of his phone conversation with Homes. "It was very nice, actually."
Even though Jackson was been in a five-year relationship with Diane Kruger, back in their days on the CW show, the former couple was very serious about one another.
For the September 1998 Rolling Stone cover story ("Katie Holmes: The Sweetheart of Dawson's Creek"), the then-fame-rising 19-year-old actress revealed about her ups and downs of her love life.
"I had really good luck this past year and I had a really wonderful, amazing experience," Holmes says. But when asked bluntly whether that "amazing experience" was with her co-star Jackson, Holmes owns up to it.
"I'm just going to say that I met somebody last year, I fell in love, I had my first love, and it was something so incredible and indescribable," Holmes explains. "I feel so fortunate because he's now one of my best friends. It's weird, it's almost like a Dawson-and-Joey type thing now."
Suri’s newly single mom then goes on to speak of her praise of Jackson as Holmes says, “I respect him as a friend and as a professional."
