One Direction React To New Single Plagarism Claims

The boys admit 'LWWY' does sound familiar...

The One Direction lads have spoken out about claims that they have ripped off parts of their new Single ‘Live While We’re Young’ from The Clash’s hit 1982 single ‘Should I Stay Or Should I go’. They have been accused of stealing riffs from the punk rock band’s song but Harry and Louis are not really denying it!

18-year old Harry has admitted the similarity, telling BBC News: “It was kind of on purpose though. It's a great riff, so."

Louis, 20, divulged a little more than his fellow boy-band member, explaining that it may sound similar, just as their hit single ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ has an opening not dissimilar to the musical Grease’s ‘Summer Nights’.

“It's a bit like the first single where the opening riff sounds similar to a certain film,” he said. He also discussed the point that with all the riffs in music it is hard to create a completely unique one.

“I assume it must be quite difficult to do a unique riff now because there have been so many songs - surely there's only so many riffs you can pull out?”

Fair point, we suppose.

What do you think?
