Hollywood super-couple Beyonce and Jay-Z often top Forbes' rich list, so have the money to pretty much do anything, all except trademark their daughter Blue Ivy's name, according to reports.

The 'Single Ladies' star and the hip-hop titan welcomed their first child, daughter Blue Ivy in January, and the name quickly became a trending topic.

Now, it has been reported that the couple have lost their bid to trademark the unique name and stop people from cashing in.

According to, the couple's request has been rejected by a US judge as there is already a well-established party planning company based in Boston, Massachusetts, called Blue Ivy events, that has been using the name since 2009.

The site reports that Beyonce had been hoping to launch her own children's fashion label under the name Blue Ivy.

But it looks as though Beyonce also has other things on her mind as she's been confirmed to hit the stage as the half-time entertainment at the 2013's Super Bowl on February 3.

The mother-of-one follows in the footsteps of the likes of Madonna, The Rolling Stones and Bruce Springsteen - and there's not too much pressure, with just 112.5 million viewers tuning in last year.

But Beyonce has performed at the Super Bowl before, having graced the stage to sing the national anthem in 2004.
