A third Bridget Jones movie may be up in the air, but author Helen Fielding has revealed that a new book is due in 2013.
The first two, Bridget Jones' Diary and Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason have been hugely popular around the world, and paved the way for successful film adaptations.
Speaking about it on BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour, Fielding said: "The new novel is set in present-day London, with an entirely new scenario for Bridget.
"If people laugh as much reading it as I am while writing it, then we'll all be very happy."
It's not clear how much similiarty it will have to the proposed plot for the next film.
Colin Firth had teased: "I can tell you that Bridget and Mark can't have children, I think that's the way it goes on.
"So then she makes the huge mistake of going back to Daniel Cleaver for long enough to get pregnant. And I think he dumps her, and she's left stranded, and guess who comes back to rescue her?"
It was reported earlier in the year that the third movie is on "indefinite hold". But maybe a new book can kick it back into action...?
