Just a month after revealing that she had to decide whether or not to have her breasts or ovaries removed in an ongoing battle with cancer, Michelle Heaton has confirmed that she has undergone a double mastectomy operation yesterday (November 20th).
While recovering from the op, the singer took to Twitter to thank her family, friends and fans for all their support.
"Thank u for all your lovely tweets. It went well, but I'm obviously very sore & disorientated still. I have the best doctors & husband Eva!x"
And before the operation she wrote: "Thank u so much 4 your well wishes. Sorry I can't get back 2 u all, though I have read every1. On way 2hospital now. Love u all, Michelle xx."
Five months ago Heaton was diagnosed with carrying the BRCA2 gene which carries an 80% chance of developing breast cancer and a 30% chance of contracting ovarian cancer.
Heaton, who married Irish business man Hugh Hanley in 2010 and gave birth to baby Faith in January, also added that she’s planning to remove her ovaries after having another baby.
