Boxer David Haye took on today’s bush-tucker trial, in I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here – despite Helen Flanagan offering her trial services.
Cruelty Towers was the name of the game and avid watchers of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here will know that Helen faced this challenge earlier in the series.
But obviously the producers were upset that the trial didn’t get full airtime. Ant and Dec said they were doing the trial for three reasons: “Helen didn’t get past reception, it is a completely unique trial” and “there is a recession on and they didn’t want to waste the money.”
When the camp were selecting who was to do the trial, Helen said she knew what the trial was and was willing to give it another go. However Charlie Brooks chipped in and said that they had to think about dinner and if she couldn’t do it before, would she be able to do it now? Valid point, Charlie.
Finally the camp decided on David and he seemed happy to have a go. As he approached the trial area, it became apparent to him that this was the same trial Helen had already faced – which meant only one thing. The return of the ostrich.
David faced the ostrich with ease, grabbing the first star from the light and locating the second star without using his torch. He then made his way through snakes, crocodiles and flies to locate 6 out of 7 stars. The boxer missed the last star, unable to locate it amongst rotting offal and flies.
David said he could understand why Helen didn’t complete the task, saying she was “a little squeamish.” On the way home he said he regarded the task as a “big, juicy loss,” because he believed there was nothing in the jungle he couldn’t achieve - and he hadn't achieved.
Well we think you did well David – better than Helen or we could do!
After David announced he got 6 out of 7 stars, Charlie said that Helen wanted to do another trial. Eric replied with “not on our watch.”
What do you think of this year’s trials?
