Gary Barlow does not speak to X Factor impresario Simon Cowell despite being a judge on the show.
The Take That star met show creator Simon in February this year to discuss his appearance on the programme but admits he hasn't spoken to the music mogul since.
Speaking at a press conference, Gary said: "I don't talk to Simon, I talk to ITV. I don't hear from Simon. I met him in February to talk about the next series, but that's it.
"It was the same as last year - once we go on telly I don't hear anything. I don't need to speak to anyone during the series. I know what my job is, and what I need to do.
"Last year it was ITV who called me saying they'd like to talk to me about the next series."
The news comes soon after Simon blamed Gary for the X Factor getting its lowest ratings since 2006 because he claims the singer takes his judging role too seriously.
However, Simon may not need to worry as Gary hinted he may not return to the show next year.
He said: "To be honest, I don't know if there is room in my diary for X Factor."
