One Direction's gravy train is showing no signs of slowing down with the boys now being crowned Artist of the Year for by MTV, beating the likes of Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift.
The 'What Makes You Beautiful' hitmakers' world domination mission continued well into 2012 following the success of their debut album Up All Night, which debuted at number one in the US, and with a world tour coming next year and another smash hit record, Take Me Home, it's only right that 1D have been named Artist of the Year.

According to MTV who crowned the heart throbs with the title, the group is "the clear choice for the top spot" in light of their success. Speaking about the honour, member Louis Tomlinson said it was the "icing on the cake" to receive the honour.
As if the MTV honour wasn't enough, the five-piece are now busy trying to encourage fans to vote for them to win the Breakout Artist award at the People's Choice ceremony taking place next year.
It looks like they're on course to win the award with the boys retweeting several messages from fans who have raced to vote for them. 2013 looks set to be an even bigger year for the lads who will be releasing a 3D concert movie in August in addition to a world tour which will kick off in February.
1D will have plenty to celebrate this Christmas!
