Lily Allen has revealed how she came to discover the talent that is newcomer Tom Odell, and says she didn't hesistate to sign him to her record label.
The 'Smile' singer, who has taken time away from music to focus on motherhood, was taken to Odell's fourth gig by a friend who strongly recommended his talents. Lily admits she was blown away by Cheshire-born Odell, who was this week announced as the 2013 BRIT Awards Critics' Choice winner.

"I went to see him play and signed him to my label straight away. His voice is fragile yet powerful and he sings mainly love songs," Lily told NME.
"I'm not usually a massive fan of singer-songwriter stuff, but when I saw him live his energy onstage reminded me of David Bowie. It's not soppy and moany at all, it's energetic and insightful. And he's totally gorgeous as well! Blond hair and blue eyes, and simply just lovely."
Odell has become the first male winner of the Critics' Choice Award, which has seen the likes of Emeli Sande, Jessie J and Ellie Goulding take home the coveted gong.
"I genuinely can’t believe it. Thank you so much. Looking at the list of amazing female artists who have won the Award already, I just hope I don’t let the boys down!" Odell said this week after finding out he had won the award.
