Ben Affleck Tipped To Be US President By Top Conservative

Will star head for the senate?

Ben Affleck is being tipped as a future US President by former MP and highly visible Tory lady Louise Mensch.

And it's not just Mensch, best known for quitting her role as an MP to move to the US with her rock manager husband, idley bigging up Ben's hopes.

There's now an obvious path to the top of politics for Ben, who refused to be drawn on his plans on US news show Face The Nation.

With former Presidential candidate John Kerry likely to replace Hilary Clinton as US Secretary of State, rumour has it Ben could find himself replacing him in Washington sooner than any could have expected when watching him in his thriller 'Argo' just weeks ago.

These rumours have been fuelled by Ben dropping out of a movie commitment to make 'Focus' alongside Kristen Stewart.

Ben struggled to dampen down speculation, as he told FTN: "Well, one never knows. I’m not one to get into conjecture. I do have a great fondness and admiration for the political process in this country, it’s a big deal for me to come down here and be on your show that I’ve watched so much."

Adding: "But I’m not going to get into speculation about my political future. I like to be involved — right now I’m really happy being involved from the outside in government, advocating for the Congolese, taking this move that I made, “Argo,” and it’s really become a springboard for dialogue about our relationship with Iran, which is, you know, as Hillary Clinton said, the most pressing foreign policy issue today — so I’ve got a lot on my plate."

Sounds like a guy ready to go into politics, something he did on screen alongside Russell Crowe in 'State of Play'.

Mensch agrees, writing in The Sun: "He would instantly become a contender the second he was sworn in to the Senate. "

Affleck wouldn't even be the first Hollywood star to become President were he to go all the way; 80s Prez Ronald Reagan was famously a B-movie actor in his younger days.
