Vernon Kay Presents Final Radio 1 Show

The DJ said goodbye to his popular weekend show after 9 years

It was the end of an era at Radio 1 this afternoon, as Vernon Kay presented his last show.

The DJ and TV Presenter announed he would be leaving the station in November.

At 1pm today he said: "So this is it from me. I bid you farewell," then thanked this "faithful" listeners and everyone who worked on the programme.

The exciting three hour show included Wretch 32 and Strictly Come Dancing finalist, British Gymnast Louis Smith.

Vernon also said that his highlights over the nine years have been the annual Big Weekend Festival along with the Radio 1 Ibiza events.

He even mentioned to the annual event at the end of the show saying: "I will see you in Ibiza 2013."

Matt Edmondson will take over for Vernon in the new year.
