Rapper Lil Mama is set to play the late R&B star Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes in a new biopic about girl group TLC. Lopes, along with bandmates Tionne 'T-Boz' Watkins and Rozonda 'Chilli' Thomas rose to fame in the 1990s as the definitive female R&B group, with songs like 'Waterfall' and 'Scrubs' selling millions.
However Lopes, who died in a car crash in 2002, had a troubled personal life, with her relationship with American footballer Andre Rison sending her into the headlines when the singer set fire to their shared mansion after setting fire to his tennis shoes in a bathtub, Lopes alleged that Rison physically and mentally abused her.

Now however it seems that Left Eye is set to return, in a full length film for music TV network Vh1, with rapper MC Lyte letting the casting news slip to the New York Daily News.
Lyte told the paper: "I don't know if I'm supposed to say, but I will. She (Lil Mama) just got the role of Left Eye in TLC's new movie."

Watkins and Thomas soldiered on as TLC after a hiatus due to Left Eye's death, but never quite reached the heights of popularity that they achieved in their 1990s heyday.
