Bruce Forsyth may look cheerful whenever we see him on our television screens, but working aside, it's now been revealed that the TV presenter has been nursing his first wife Penny Calvert as she battles with dementia.
The 85-year-old has been looking after Penny since 2008, when her health deteriorated to such an extent that she was moved to a residential care home.
Despite the pair divorcing 40 years ago, Bruce remains a frequent visitor at the Kent care home, where Penny now lives and is said to be "determined" to keep her involved in family life.
Bruce's daughter Julie has spoken out about her father's involvement in his ex wife's life, telling the Daily Mirror: "It has become impossible to care for her anymore. My father and I continue to visit her. She might not recognise us anymore but we won’t forget her."

Bruce previously presented Penny with a bouquet of flowers at a special Mother's Day party back in 2009, with the event also being attended by the Strictly Come Dancing star's current wife, Wilnelia.
Julie said: "We stood in a line for a photo and as I glanced around me, at my sisters, my half-sisters, half-brother, step-mother and mother, it struck me that this was probably my father’s greatest achievement.
"To have three wives and six children who adore him and get along, without acrimony, rows or bitterness, is extraordinary. We are like a huge, extended family. When we arrived, he gave the women a bouquet of flowers. It was so typical of Dad."
Meanwhile, Bruce hasn't been well himself recently and his time off Strictly has apparently left bosses "concerned."
A show source has told The Sun that "the long hours leave him exhausted".
They said: "Bruce is a national institution but he is 85. When you're 85, you can't just pop a few tablets and get on with things like people in their 30s or 40s."
The alleged insider added: "It feels like he's on borrowed time."
