While some people claim 'mummy porn' phenomenon 'Fifty Shades Of Grey' has improved their sex life, it seems the racy read hasn't helped everyone with one couple ended up in court after a man objected to his girlfriend reading the novel and has been convicted of common assault.
According to the NewsandStar Raymond Hodgson, 31 was “appalled” to discover that his girlfriend Emma McCormick was addicted to the erotic novel.
Carlisle Magistrates’ Court heard that after she refused to stop reading it the tiff escalated with Hodgson “slapping her” and “squirting her” in the face with a bottle of brown sauce.
According to the newspaper Prosecutor Adrienne Harris told the court: “Mr Hodgson thought that the book was pornographic, and that she should not read such literature.
“The argument continued into the following day, with the two exchanging text messages.
"That conversation, which included some discussion of private family issues, left Hodgson feeling angry.”
Harris went on: “He went to her home [in Rockcliffe] at 7pm on June 26 and took with him a bottle of brown sauce.
“She answered the door and the argument continued. “She went to close the door and he jammed his foot into the door, slapped her once in the face, and then squirted her with this bottle of sauce.”
Apparently when interviewed by police Hodgson said he felt 'Fifty Shades of Grey' was a “distasteful” and “pornographic” book.
The erotic novel tells the story of Anastasia Steele and the darkly erotic sex life she embarks on with billionaire Christian Grey.
