American Idol almost has Nicole Kidman’s husband sitting at one of the seats on the judge’s panel.
Keith Urban is currently in intense negotiations with the music reality competition, but has yet to sign on that little dotted line, according to TMZ.
The country crooner is the last negotiation stages with Idol producers, which would make him the third judge in the upcoming season.
In July, Mariah Carey was the first judge to sign on, followed by Nicki Minaj on Aug. 20, which are replacing Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler.
Since Randy Jackson has been dropped as a judge and will be taking on a mentoring role, Urban will be filling his shoes on the judging panel.
Nicole Kidman’s hubby is working out some details, but his new role on Idol is pretty much locked down.
Unlike Carey’s staggering $18 million, Urban will be raking in a smaller-scale paycheck with $3 – $4 million, which is half of what Minaj is expected to make for the season.
While the third judge is almost to be signed on, Idol still has their fourth judge to bring on board.
As the Hollywood Reporter previously reported, producers are gunning for Latin hearttthrob Enrique Iglesias to take the final seat.
American Idol is scheduled to premiere on Fox in January 2013.
