Kate Middleton has had a busy week meeting the Great British public, following on from yesterday's hot tub encounter with Ashley Cole, the Duchess spent this morning on a solo visit to Newcastle where she received an extra special gift from an over-eager fan.
Kate is spending her day in Newcastle alone, as husband Prince William attends the funeral of his childhood nanny. The Duchess needn't have worried about a lack of male attention though as she got a cheeky hug whilst greeting school children outside the city's Civic Centre.
Ten-year-old Terry Campbell had vowed to get a hug from the Duchess and maybe a kiss as he waited with hundreds of locals, hoping to get a glimpse of the royal.
According to The Telegraph as the Duchess, dressed in a red Whistles dress and plum coat, made her way along the line, Terry immediately held his arms out wide. Kate asked him “Am I going to get a cuddle as well?”
The Duchess then leant forward over the steel barrier and embraced lucky Terry.

The ten-year-old, wearing his school uniform under a green hoodie, appeared almost lost for words when asked what it had been like to hug a real-life princess:
"It was good,’ he told The Telegraph. “I was hoping to get a hug from her when we came here this morning. I never actually thought it would happen. I can’t believe she hugged me back.”
"She was everything I thought she would be. She was really nice."
A school friend interrupted: "The one thing he really wanted though was a kiss.”
Today's antics followed the Duchess' meeting with Ashley Cole yesterday as she visited the England football team with William. The team chose to meet the royal couple as they unwound in a hot tub. Kate and Wills kept full clothed for the occasion but Cheryl Cole's ex seemed to be checking out the Duchess from the tub...
