The Oscars red carpet is usually the girls' domain but at last night's 2014 ceremony the boys were taking over with Academy Award winners Jared Leto and Matthew McConaughey pulling off white while Pharrell showed some leg.
The likes of Leonardo DiCaprio and Bradley Cooper may have stuck to the classic tux but Dallas Buyers Club double act Matthew and Jared went all out for their big night.

Both Oscar champs showed up in white jackets, Matt's courtesy of Dolce & Gabbana while Jared went for Saint Laurent.
With some snazzy bowties the boys proved that white is a lucky colour (fact: more best actress winners have worn white than any other colour) as both scooped an award. Extra points to Jared for his flowing locks.
Benedict Cumberbatch represented the Brits in his slick slim-cut suit which is rumoured to be from his favourite Savile Row designer Spencer Hart. Complete with a crisp white shirt, black tie and coiffed locks, the Sherlock star was looking more than dapper.
Kevin Spacey left his House of Cards alter ego Frank Underwood at home as he rocked up in a quirky navy tux from Brit design house Burberry. Standing out in a sea of black Mr Spacey was as suave as ever.

Finally Oscar nominee Pharrell Williams deserves a big round of applause for his daring sartorial choice, showing up on the red carpet in a snazzy pair of shorts. They weren't just any shorts though, hailing from top designer Lanvin and paired with a smart tux on top.

But the bold fashion statement did carry some risks: "That scared me so much," a startled Pharrell said mid-interview on the red carpet when something brushed against his bare skin. "Something dropped on my leg and I almost jumped over there."
Perhaps that's why during his performance of Happy the music man opted for some Adidas sportswear. The crowning moment? His now iconic Vivienne Westwood hat which made a reappearance during his energetic sing-song.
